Its  Origin And Effect In The World

Origin: There are numerous assumptions about where the very first case (the so-called patient zero) originated. The first known case may ascertain back to 1 December 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. Over the next month, the number of coronavirus cases in Hubei progressively increased. According to official Chinese sources, these were often linked to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which also sold alive animals.
Effect: The COVID-19 pandemic outlines an unprecedented agitation to the global economy and world trade, as production and consumption are scaled back across the globe.
The coronavirus has conceived the biggest global crisis in generations, emitting shock waves through health systems, economies, and societies around the world. Confronted with an unprecedented situation, governments are focused on bringing the disease under control and reviving their economies. Some Points Are Given Below:
1.      Countries in full lockdown are encountering an average 25% decline in energy demand per week and countries in partial lockdown an average 18% decline.
2.      The Consequence of global lockdown measures, Mobility – 57% of global import/export declined at an unprecedented scale in early 2020.
3.      Road transport in regions with lockdowns in place drained between 50% and 75%, with global average road transport activity almost falling to 50% of the 2019 level by the end of March.
4.      Oil demand is expected to fall by a record 9.3 million barrels a day this year, erasing almost a decade of growth.

Comparative Study Of Management Of Coronavirus In Different Countries

Comparative study of SARS-CoV-2 infected countries in Asia, Europe, and the American continent. The present study is based on the confirmed case, the number of deaths, the total recovered case. In Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh where the population is high and the medical facility is less as compared to Europe so it can be more serious in the future. Therefore, lockdown can play a crucial role in COVID-19. This lockdown in countries provide more time to search alternative solution for control of COVID-19 disease and upcoming weeks are more critical.

  •          Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways advised states and Union Territories to take all steps for sanitization of public transport vehicles and terminals. This is to ensure sanitation of seats, handles and bars at all bus terminals are disinfected.
  •          The government introduced the Aarogya Setu mobile application to educate citizens about novel coronavirus and help them make informed decisions amid the crisis.
  •          Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launched a web portal to monitor and record the initiative by the ministry to combat Covid-19 with Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation (YUKTI).
  •          The finance ministry announced that it will make an immediate release of Rs 18,000 crore in tax refunds to individuals and businesses.

  •          Under the National Social Assistance Programme, Rs 1,400 crore has been disbursed to about 2.82 crore old age people, widows, and disabled people.

Precautions To Be Taken By General Public.

You can reduce your chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19 by taking some simple precautions:
  • Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
  • Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and others.
  • Avoid going to crowded places.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and wash your hands.
  • Stay home and self-isolate even with minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, until you recover. Have someone bring you supplies. If you need to leave your house, wear a mask to avoid infecting others.
  • If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention, but call by telephone in advance if possible and follow the directions of your local health authority.
  •  If you use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, make sure you use and store it carefully.
  • If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19.

Effect On The Economy Of The World

The pandemic has pushed the global economy into a recession, which means the economy starts shrinking and growth stops. Among the coronavirus pandemic, several countries across the world resorted to lockdowns to “flatten the curve” of the infection. These lockdowns meant confining millions of citizens to their homes, shutting down businesses, and ceasing almost all economic activity. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the global economy is expected to shrink by over 3 percent in 2020 – the steepest slowdown since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
  • In the US, COVID-19-related disruptions have led to millions filing for unemployment benefits.
  • An early analysis by IMF reveals that the manufacturing output in many countries has gone done, which reflects a fall in external demand and growing expectations of a fall in domestic demand.
  • The IMF’s estimate of the global economy growing at -3 percent in 2020 is an outcome “far worse” than the 2009 global financial crises.
  • China’s GDP dropped by 36.6 percent in the first quarter of 2020, while South Korea’s output fell by      5.5 percent since the country didn’t impose a lockdown but followed a strategy of aggressive testing, contact tracing and quarantining. In Europe, the GDPs of France, Spain, and Italy fell by 21.3, 19.2, and 17.5 percent respectively.
  • Due to the fall in travel, global industrial activity has been affected. Oil prices fell further in March as the transportation section, which accounts for 60 percent of the oil demand, was hit due to several countries imposing lockdowns.
  • Due to lockdowns in China, followed by in the US and Europe, the demand for industrial metals reduced as factories shut down. As per IMF, China accounts for roughly half of the global demand for industrial metals.
  • IMF projects a decrease in food prices by 2.6 percent in 2020, caused by supply chain disruptions, border delays, food security concerns in regions affected by Covid-19 and export restrictions.
  • Supply shortages are expected to affect several sectors due to panic buying, increased usage of goods to fight the pandemic, and disruption to factories and logistics.
  • In India, economists expect the near-term impact of the outbreak to be limited to the supply chains of major conglomerates, especially pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, automobiles, textiles, and electronics.
  • The BSE SENSEX fell 2919 and NIFTY 50 fell 950 points in a single day on 12 March 2020.
  • The Indian government has banned the export of ventilators, surgical/disposable masks and textile raw materials out of the country.

It’s After Effects

Like the fall of the Berlin Wall or the collapse of Lehman Brothers, a coronavirus pandemic is a world-shattering event whose far-ranging consequences we can only begin to imagine today.
  • Just as this disease has shattered lives, disrupted markets and exposed the competence (or lack thereof) of governments, it will lead to permanent shifts in political and economic power in ways that will become apparent only later.
  • The pandemic will strengthen the state and reinforce nationalism. Governments of all types will adopt emergency measures to manage the crisis, and many will be loath to relinquish these new powers when the crisis is over.
  • COVID-19 will create a world that is less open, less prosperous, and less free. It did not have to be this way, but the combination of a deadly virus, inadequate planning, and incompetent leadership has placed humanity on a new and worrisome path.
  • The coronavirus pandemic could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back of economic globalization.
  • COVID-19 is forcing governments, companies, and societies to strengthen their capacity to cope with extended periods of economic self-isolation.
  • It provides hope that men and women around the world can prevail in response to this extraordinary challenge.

"We cannot say this loudly enough or clearly enough or often enough - all countries can change the course of this pandemic."
